Major Issue With Mail

I am having a weird issue with my yahoo e-mail account. When I go to mail on the iPhone on the bottom it says "Checking for mail..." That continues and never goes away and it will drain my battery if I don't disable my account. Reason being it is connecting to the internet but not retrieving my mail. So now I cannot get any new e-mails and I have a message that is draining my battery unless, like I already said, I disable my account. Basically it feels like I have a feature of the iPhone that I can not use. What do I do to get this to stop. It will literally stay on 24/7 on the mail client whenever I got to it.

just noticed this same issue as well. I noticed the iPhone getting warm in my pocket, and battery quickly draining. Sure enough when I went into mail, it was constantly checking for Y! mail and not downloading any. I've disabled my yahoo account for now.

Go to yahoo mail on your computer and log-in. Then log out.

Send your self an email to yahoo from a different account and see if you can get it on the iPhone.

No, still doesn't work. Something else I just noticed. When I disable the account and then turn it back "On" again my e-mail will not show up under the mail application on the iPhone. I need to completely delete the account and then set the account up again for it to show up. Anyone else having this same issue? I am thinking it is a software problem. If anyone finds a solution it would be greatly appreciated.

I've had the same problem with my Yahoo email. Some days it works and other days it does not. Today is a good day. I find that if I delete the account and then set it up again it usually starts to work. As for the never ending 'checking for mail' if you go to your Sent or Drafts folder it will connect, check for mail, and then end. That's one way I found to stop the endless check and save your battery. Hope this help.

There needs to be a long-term solution to this problem...Yahoo/Apple please provide a fix!

By any chance while on the Yahoo! mail site did you 'switch' to the beta?

I have a couple of widgets that stopped working when I did. But when I switched back to classic Yahoo! mail they started working again.

I initial issue a lot of us were having when we first set up a Yahoo! mail account (so we could have push), was that it would not work properly unless you logged in the website every now and then so the site could capture the CAPTCHA so Yahoo! could tell you were a real person using the account and not a bot.

Greg, thanks for your advice on going back to classic Yahoo! mail vs. the bata. I switched back to classic yesterday and so far mail is working. Fingers crossed...
