Make your phone search for service?

At my place of employment I'm right on the border of 3G service and edge. If my phone has edge instead of 3G, a restart almost always makes it find the 3G. This is obviously a hassle to do, does anyone know of a way to make your phone search for service without turning it off?

Wouldn't happen to be jail broken would you? SBsettings has a 3G toggle. Couple of taps for on and off.
Which iOS you using? If your below 5.1 there maybe a way using some of these toggles: http://brdrck.me/settings/

No, not Jailbroken. I used to be a big fan of Jailbreaking but I've been happy with Apples iOS features do awhile now.

It happens to me sometimes and I just put it on airplane mode for few seconds and turn it back off, when I do that 3G is back.

Or just turn off cellular data off too. we have the same phone so if it works for me it should work for you as well.
