I am having the exact same problem... It's like Apple decided that everybody should let iTunes manage everything rather then have the ability to individually put crap on it. How ridiculous.

Ok, so since this feature is apparently missing for some odd reason, I have a workaround for all those with the same problem.

Go into iTunes and uncheck everything in your library (Ctrl+A, right-click and uncheck all).

With the albums you want to transfer, select all the songs (Shift+click first song to the last, then right-click select all).

Make a new smart-playlist. Uncheck the feilds for criteria, and leave the "checked tracks" option selected. What this will do is make a playlist that will always have all checked items in it and nothing else. Now go into your iPhone settings and have your iPhone sync with that new playlist we just created. Only your selected tracks will transfer onto it.

Hopefully Apple fixes this issue soon, but for all those in the same frustrating position I hope this helps. If something is unclear let me know and I'll try to clarify.

For videos you can select the specific ones you want. For example, I imported some random videos into the movie library. Then, from the video tab in iTunes on the iPhone, check "sync movies" and then the specific movies you want to add to it.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I want specific episodes but my only options are unwarched or most recent. I hope they fix this soon.

How in the hell do I delete a tv show if I don't want it taking up space on my iPhone, I can't wait till the next update on iPhone software

anyone able to figure this out? there has to be a way to manually manage the music/videos on the iPhone...it would be a huge step backwards if they didn't.

Yeah but what about videos. I'm halfway through Battlestar Galactica Season 3 and it won't let me just put on a couple of episodes at a time. It pretty much sucks.

not being able to manually manage is killing me. Every time i just want to add an artist i have to sync it and i end up deleting stuff i didn't want to delete. Such a hassle.

I've tried this method, but when I try to make the playlist, unchecking the criteria field makes it so i cannot confirm the playlist. and leaving it checked but with nothing in there gives me an arrow message and nothing gets added to the playlist. I do have what i wanted checked in the all music section.

Yeah this is extremely frustrating! I (did have) all of my movies on an external and all of my music on my internal drive for my MBP. I had to move my music library to the external and leave the original on my MBP. I make sure I have the external library selected when I sync my phone. So at least I can now add video and music, but I still am having some issues with TV shows. I tried to select "unwatched 1" but when it moves one episode it seems to randomly choose one from later in the playlist. It doesn't choose the next available unwatched episode -- very frustrating. Manual control would fix all of this.

When you go in to make the smart playlist, set the limit to 7 Gigs (or whatever you want), then it'll let you make the playlist. Hope this helps, and here's hoping for a manual solution via iTunes soon!

I just got off the phone with Apple, the speaker on my 7 hour old iPhone is broken, they removed this feature. You CANNOT manually manage your music, etc. as you could with previous iPods. I told them this is STUPID!

I hope they fix this. It will be much more difficult to manage your music in my opinion if I have to create an individual playlist for every CD I want to add to my iPhone.

Yes, this does look a little more difficult than I thought.
