More evidence for 6/15 release date?

I found this press release online from a company that would provide some sort of email service for the iPhone.

I found this part to be quite interesting:

"June 15 is the street date for the iPhone's unveiling and as eager as everyone is to see the next step in cell phone and Internet communication"

I know it's just another in a long line of rumors and speculation, but I thought others may want to check it out...

Interesting. MailTank is either betting heavily on that date or they have confirmation by Apple. I would not be surprised if Apple is helping developers invisibily seed the release date for the iPhone with press releases to help build up the hype for their own products as tie-ins. Brilliant marketing if that's the case, provided everybody keeps quiet.

They also claim their web app is ready for the iPhone which is an interesting claim to stake, considering we don't know what features Safari will/will not include. For those on the go, why wouldn't someone use Apple's built-in mail application (and push e-mail) or is there something we don't know yet?

From a PR standpoint, when Jobs mentions "We start shipping iPhone Friday" at WWDC it'll look a lot better than an "anyway-you-say-it-will-be-a-letdown" June 29 release.

Sounds to me like Apple is already working with 3rd party folks to get their stuff on the iPhone. That would be awesome.

"Start shipping Friday" what?

Am I lost?

i think he's trying to say that IF Steve Jobs were to announce (at WWDC i assume) that the iPhone would release on Friday (the 15th), it would look a lot better than announcing a release on the 29th.

Yes... Jobs keynote is on the 11th where we assume he'll announce availability. Damn we got some eager beavers on this forum! ;)

Sorry... I guess not everybody caught the WWDC reference.... (just edited my post above).

I'm guessing he will make an announcement of the official available date during the keynote.

Yep, that seems to be the consensus at this point, that the official release date will be announced at Steve Job's keynote at WWDC at 10 a.m on the 11th of June. Until then, though, it's just the usual flood of rumors and speculation.

Trust me, as soon as the keynote starts I will be searching the net for info. I just hope my boss doesn't want to have a meeting on the morning of the 11th .
I'll be away from the computer as well. Damn those Gifted Training courses! At least I'll be finished by the 12th.
