MP3 Volume Inconsistent

My MP3s play with VERY variable volume levels in iTunes and on my iPhone. Prior to owning this phone I used Media Monkey to store my tunes and I had all the volumes normalized through it's options. Checking "Sound Check" in iTunes does not help. Running all of my MP3s through MP3Gain does not help.

Any ideas?

I uninstalled iTunes and started from scratch. I didn't have any problems this time. I just thought I'd document this for anyone else having the same issue.
