Really disapointing. I posted my problems in another thread...

well i just had safari crash a bunch of times, followed by setting crashings followed by iPhone itself crashing followed by iPhone starting up with a connect to iTunes error message.

now i connect it to iTunes and told me to do a system restore and the system restore just said it failed.

safe to say safari/iPhone internet capabilities are a bit buggy. sms, email, safari, you tube network setting won't even work anymore.

they immediately go back to the home screen when i click them.

yikes!
Well after that whole ordeal i got the connect to iTunes prompt again when the iPhone started back up and now that's all i'm getting. Everytime I try to restore via iTunes it fails.

Looks like i'm off to the Apple store tomorrow. I can't even convey my disapointment right now. I was so excited about this product and still am, but the luster has worn off significantly for me. I knew it was a first generation product going in, but i didn't expect it to just completely go on the fritz before the weekend was over. sigh. Hope i can get it up and going quickly, i don't want to be phoneless very long.

Yes i have, i've done it several times tonight already when the iPhone hung.

Well the restore just worked finally, but half the stuff doesn't work anymore (also it couldn't restore my contacts because of an error), but i can receive calls atleast.

I'm done trying to fix it, i'll see what Apple can do for me tomorrow.

That's terrible. You're scaring me. I hope mine doesn't develop those problems. I'm sure they'll replace it. Luckily for you it came from the Apple store where they might possibly have some remaining stock. I know most of the AT&T stores are completely out.

actually i bought mine from an att store, but the guy at att said all service for the phone itself goes through Apple. I hope they don't give me the shaft at the Apple store.

My safari crashes too. I wouldn't go as far as say often but maybe 2-3x a day. Also when I'm browsing and listening to music my music will randomly shut off. Anyone else?

It's quite common. It happened to me on Saturday but I completely powered the phone down and it solved the problem. Hold the sleep/lock button until the "slide to power off" comes up. Slide to power it off and after it completely powers down, then power it up again. You'll see the Apple logo for a few seconds.

This solved my problem completely. It probably happened to me 30 times on Saturday, but after powering it completely down like that, it hasn't happened one time since. I used it all day today, watching YouTube, playing iTunes, making calls, browsing the web, and it didn't go back to the home screen by itself one single time.

In case anyone is interested Apple replaced my iPhone with a new one. The process was less then great though.

I went to the first Apple store at 10:00am, one of the sales person took a look at it. Went wow, yeah this phone has problems and had me sign up an appointment for the genius bar at noon.

I arrive at noon and they were pretty busy. Got to me in about 15-20 minutes. After another 20 minutes they told me they would replace my phone but they didn't have any 8 gb's left and signed me up for another genius bar appointment at the other Apple store in my town (for 2pm).

I arrive at 2 and don't get helped at this Apple store till about 2:30. then the Apple genius tells me because I bought my iPhone at att I have to get it replaced by att. I explained to her that both att I bought the iPhone from and the Apple iPhone support page say you should go to the Apple store for support of the iPhone if its having a problem. She tells me to hold on and goes in the back. After about another 10 minutes she comes back with a 8 gb iPhone, switches the sim cards and i was on my way.

Now before you think "wow Apple customer service is awful", i will say all the ppl i dealt with were extremely nice and tried to be as helpful as possible and after all they replaced my iPhone.

So that's the story to this point, guess i'll see how this iPhone works out.
