Need assistance jailbreaking and unlocking my old firmware iPhone 4

hey guys, i just need some assistance in jailbreaking and unlocking my old firmware iPhone 4, its already jailbrocken but i want to update the version and jailbreak and unlock it. the current version i have on it is 4.1 (8B117), with firmware 02.10.04, so yes its pretty old lol. I want to update it to a nice version that has a lot of changes and good features like 4.3 or something i don't know.. I want to update to a version that is also available to be unlocked so i can use any simcard with it. I know a little about the untethered and tethered process, i believe untethered is better because you don't have to plug it into the computer once it reboots? i would like to update to a version that is UNTETHERED. also can i RESTORE the phone back to the original version and firmware whenever i like?

please help me out

There is an untethered jailbreak for every firmware version with the exception of the most recent one (4.3.4). The 4.3.4 jailbreak is tethered. Since 4.3.4 is out, you'll need to use your SHSH blobs to restore to an older version.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to software unlock this phone. All iPhone 4s on 4.1 and higher (without preserved basebands) are not unlockable with ultrasn0w. However, you can use a GEVEY sim unlock, but they don't always work well. Do you really need the unlock or is it just something you'd like to have but don't require right now?

Yo Europa I remember u, thanks for the reply. I don't really need te unlock but it would have been nice to have aswell since it will be easier for me to sell this phone if I wanted to in te future. can u trell me exactly what to do. an do I really need to use SHSB to save my old firmware, I don't think I will need it if I'm already unlocked on a newer firmware.. unless it will attract buyers. which firmware do u recommend me to upgrade to that had a lot of nice new features? I'm guessing I will have to first use SHSB to save my firmware and than go to ultrasnow or whatever to jailbreak after I upgrade to a new firmware.
