Biggest problem with redbox is taking the dvd back and the damn box is full. Now you keep it and pay for another day.

I just tried it and can stream to my MBP and to Apple TV. Too lazy to get my phone and try.
Have never heard that. I rent almost every movie that comes out for redbox every week and visit several locations. Or never experienced where you can't return. I would suggest contacting redbox when that happens. I would be shocked if they did not credit your account when that happens. I jaw contacted then no less than ten times with various issues and they all have been resolved.

Happens to my wife. She does the returning usually. She called...maybe emailed, not sure...them and they said there was other locations in my city and could have returned the movie to a different redbox.

Bla. I don't want to drive all over town to find a box.

Seems the box at the local Wal_Mart is usually out of most things and the box at the corner closest to me, and a large population area, is always full. I suspect many people rent from the wal-mart location but return closer to home.

That sucks for people who rely on streaming at the same time. I love to stream movies from my xbox, but this new rule they are going to implement doesn't really effect me that much because I don't stream from my computer or from other devices.

I've never had that problem. There is six red boxes in my area anyway, so I'm sure I could find one to return it to. If not, you call redbox and they take care of it. They have really good customer service. The phone number is on the DVD case. I just has an instance where I reserved a movie and when I got there the machine wasn't working. So I called and let them know. They can't cancel the reservation or give my dollar back, so they gave me two free rentals which I guess made up for it. The movie happened to be in the machine next to it so I didn't have to drive anywhere to get it.

Redbox kiosks are popping everywhere these days, I don't understand how some have so many problems returning a movie.
I think I just got an idea for a businesss.

I don't want to drive all over town looking for a box that isn't full. I don't see why that is so crazy. I have better things to do with my life than that.

How does Redbox stock the boxes, anyway? Just curious...
Monday nights they get filled with the new movies. If a lot of a certain movie is there. (to many in their eyes) they remove some to put in another location. It's all slots inside. Mechanical arm goes and gets them out or puts them in when you use the terminal.
I have the redbox app. It is awesome. Great to reserve. Also tells u where a certain movie is from your location. Helps people web they get to a box and I ask what movie are u looking for. Pull out the phone tell them where it is.

THey hire vendors that provide maintenance services when they have jammed DVDs or the server goes offline and they send a technician out to fix it. The company we were working with sent out a separate vendor once a week to change out the new releases.

We had a RedBox at work. When they install the unit the retailer receives a book with info and contact numbers in it. They dial into the box by satellite to see how full it is, how many returns are in it etc. If it is full before they are scheduled to arrive the retailer can call them and they will come empty it. They are usually very good about the maintenance. The only time we ever had trouble was when someone didn't clean the snow off the top and they couldnt establish a connection to the box. They are becoming so popular because they are profitable to the businesss. I cant remember the exact figure but I it was around $5000 a year we made just for having it sit on our property.
