Ok, so I'm planning on going to college next year to major in Film.

Should I buy the new Sony LV Series Desktop or the new Sexy iMac's?

With the Sony I'd be getting Sony Vegas, with Mac, Final Cut.

Which do you recommend, because whichever new desktop I get it will be the brand of labtop I get for college.

I would ONLY get a Mac. Hands-down beats any PC in every way. Also, Vegas does not even come close to comparing to Final Cut.

I'll put in a strong vote for the Mac, imo better in every way. But why not just get a MacBook Pro and save $1500 on the iMac, as sexy as it is? As son as you use your MBP, you'll probably find you don't need a desktop computer as well.

As a user of both systems for years, I'd go with the mac. Less down time. Even the MacBook is very strong. Had a photographer friend make the switch this summer. He said he wished he had done it two years ago when I suggested it. You won't be sorry.

Yeah, but we still need a desktop for our new house. By the time I graduate(next June) I think Apple will have made a new series of Labtops.

Get the Mac. I have been using PCs since well the 1980s. Always had problems with Windows but it was never something I couldn't fix/ Since I have had the MacBook Pro, not one problem and using a computer is fun again! It boots up fast and it's ready to go as soon as the desktop appears unlike my PCs. Enjoy!

It's simple:

Want a stable but limited platform that offers good audio/visual functionality?

Get a Mac.

Want something you can play the latest games on and which is easily customizable at the expense of some stability?

Get a PC.

Want a Laptop?

Get a Macbook. Seriously, no Windows based Laptop even comes close.

find out what you will be using in school and get the same.. makes everything much smoother.. so if you will be using mostly final cut and mac based programs to do your work on then go with the mac if its pc then go with the pc... its like working on a car with a full shop or a half assed tool box... things are easier with the right tools... you can get it done with a vice grip and a flathead but its gonna be a lot harder
