CNET's Crave is posting that there most likely won't be an accessible sim card in the iPhone (see link: http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9725587-1.html?tag=cnetfd.mt).

Can anyone comment on likelihood of this? I have Cingular and like to occasionally switch phones, but this would make that fairly complicated.

Cheers,
nicole
Fairly complicated. I guess so because without the ability to switch the SIM card, you would have to do an IMEI swap or something. Let's hope that rumor is incorrect. Hopefully the details will come out this week while some of our Cingular/At&t employed members go through their iPhone training.

Im not saying I live in the toughest neighbor hood but it can get pretty bad in areas. I am an existing Cingular customer and I would definatly take my sim out of my iPhone and put it in my reg old phone just to prevent muggings.

Not me. If you walk around with a $249 30 GB iPod, a $275 Razr, and a $1,200 laptop, then you can walk around with a $600 iPhone.

I have 12 year olds that come to school with 30 GB iPods and all types of cell phones (Razr, Pebl, Slvr, Envy, Sidekick) and they don't have any problems. These kids are carrying around $500/$600 worth of electronics everyday.

I have also heard this rumor, but I just can't believe it's true. With how much swtiching of SIM cards and messing around in Cingular stores that they do, it would make the job much harder. I once took my phone in and the employee went through six new SIM cards trying to figure it out.
