We’ve been getting lots of questions lately surrounding the new Apple iPhone from people wondering if there will be GPS in the iPhone. The one word answer is no, there will not be GPS in the iPhone. No, you won’t be able to connect a Bluetooth GPS receiver to it. And finally, No, you won’t be able to install (fill in the blank) type of GPS software. But…. that is only the short of the story.

Please clarify this post. Are you saying that a Cingular rep told you that iPhone will have integrated GPS?

I would take both the article on gpsreview.net and what the customer service rep told you with a huge grain of salt. Gpsreview does not have access to any information that we don't. While the Cingular rep may have access to new info, it is highly unlikely that Apple would allow information to leak to the public in this manner.

I am not saying that the iPhone will or won't have GPS. I am saying Apple has not released any information on this topic so all info available at this time is just speculation.

I really hope the iPhone supports bluetooth GPS receivers or better yet has one built in. We will just have to wait and see though.

I'd like to add to that a flashlight, massager, VanDeGraf generator, hoverjet, and a flux capacitor. All on the same battery. :p

LOL. I understand where you are coming from, but I am not concerned about the impact of GPS on the iPhone's battery life since I would only use it in my car with the iPhone connected to an external power source.

my apology...yes a cingular rep told me...
Alas, the Cingular rep is misinformed. But I'm happy to keep wishing with everyone else. :)

Just gently teasing. Besides, the flux capacitor would never work without this.
