Numbers in text messages

Starting last Fri afternoon all of my text messages are coming in with just phone numbers listed and not the contact name. Also when I push the button for my recent calls all of them are listed as numbers instead of names of my contacts. My contacts are all on my phone and my favorites are still listed. It is only in my recent calls and text messages where just the numbers show up.....I have been an iPhone user since day 1 in 1997 and have never seen this before. Really has me stumped. Any suggestions?

I would try a hard reset to see if that clears it up. I would also check your Mail, Calendar, and Contacts settings to see if anything has changed.
(btw, if you've been an iPhone owner since 1997, I want to borrow your time machine)

Try the following steps in order:

1. Reboot
2. Hard Reset
3. Reset All Settings
4. Back up your contacts, delete them, sync them back on and reboot again.

I'm also using Google contacts to sync and not MobileMe or iTunes. Thnx for the help....

Had to restore as a new phone but it fixed the prob....Thnx

It had happened for me a couple of times on iOS 5. But a hard reset solved the issue.
