Here is my plan when I get home. If it is flawed please let me know.

3.1 Upgrade

Backup Cydia apps
Delete Categories
Backup data to syncdocs
Backup iPhone to iTunes (just in case)
Install iTunes 9
Install 3.1 as new phone
Sync to get contacts and calendar data back
Load apps from iTunes library
Load data from sync docs
Load music/videos/pictures from iTunes library
Just missing the last step: "Get jiggy wit it". :sneaky:

I had the camera before the update, but wasn't able to send/receive mms. Not too long after the keynote, I got a mms from one of my friends that didn't know I wasn't able to get them and now I can send and receive to anyone! So much for September 25th :)

I just don't understand the fuss or rush for this OS 3. Upgrade...?

This isn't 2.x to 3.0 we're talking about here.

There isn't anything in this upgrade of any real consequence with the possible exception of voice control over BT. But even there I have heard you still need to push the home button to initiate a voice control prompt. Duh - if I wanted to push a button on the phone, I could also hold it up to my ear and give the command. (I still haven't confirmed this functionality)

Even if it readies us for MMS, the dev-team will have a working JB for us by the 25th.

I guess the better BT/Wifi interaction is a good fix for 3G users. I never had that problem and had both on all the time.

Arranging apps in iTunes is a nice feature, but honestly how often do you need to do that. And with so many of us Jailbroken, the options there (Winterboard, Categories, 5 Row Springboard) are many and likely will not allow this feature to work properly.

I'm not trying to be critical of anybody anxious to upgrade, just suggesting that this isn't a huge bunch of changes or improvements to get too impatient over.

16 more days until MMS and people are still after it.

Not to sound like a dick, but is it really necessary to hack at this point just to get an extra feature? Y'all can't wait two more weeks?

I'm on 3.0 and want to skip 3.0.1 and go directly to 3.1 However, the update showing for me is 3.0.1 Is there a way to download 3.1 without having to go through 3.0.1 first?

No kidding. I read some of the 'MMS is gone now' posts and I was like, wtf? You'll get it officially in 15 days!

With iTunes 9, my iPhone backups really fast! Much better than before. And iTunes is much faster for Windows. Switching between tabs used to take like ages. Much better now...

Not too excited about 3.1. I decided to not care about the possibility of never being jailbreak again, as I've gotten down to theming as the sole thing I get out of jailbreaking, and I can live with a few crappy App Store icons. I suppose Genius in the App Store is kinda cool.

iTunes 9, though, is super cool. Loving the new store layout and new UI.
