I get the same thing as you re: the little dial spinning around. However, when I make a call, I AM able to use bluetooth. I turned it off then back on. But, I do NOT get the bluetooth (Apple) little charge indicator icon that I used to get when I turn on my phone.
Are you using the iPhone BT headset? How did you make the connection again if the little dial just keeps spinning? I reset the iPhone, that didn't help and I powered it off/on and that didn't do anything either.

Downloading now. Taking a while since everyone's downloading. I'm disappointed that there is no improved functionality for iCal and Notes, and particularly that we still cannot compose emails with a landscape keyboard. :(

Installer hangs on Booting iPhone in recovery mode

I read elsewhere that the recovery mode has been modified so that's probably why. I bet apptapp could re-write it for that.

For some reason now when I look at Bluetooth it just says unavalable

And when I got to wifi I cant even press it to turn it on and off, it just says No Wi-Fi

Yes, I am using the Apple iPhone bluetooth headset. I see the same thing as you, with the little spinning "dial". I watched that for a few minutes, then decided just to attempt making a call to see what happened with my bluetooth. I first shut off the bluetooth (push and hold the top button until you hear the downward tones, then push and hold again until you hear the upward tones). Then, I merely made a call, and as it was ringing, I pushed the top button briefly, just until I heard the one short beep. It changed from "speaker" to "audio" as usual, and automatically went to "bluetooth".

looks like this update kills custom ringtones... was still using previous version of iTunes specifically for my ringtones, but when I navigate to sounds, they no longer show up.
Could you be a tad more specific in this statement?

-Which OS?
-Which ringtone program?
-did the ringtone program work with the phone (communicate) after the update?
-If it did communicate were there any error messages or anything to indicate that they did not go over to the phone?

I only ask this as I am running 7.3 of iTunes and use iPhoneringtonemaker on the PC. Since this program does not technically "hack" the phone I was unsure if it would still work.

Just tried both iBrickr and AppTapp: both hang when the iPhone is at the newly-designed recovery screen.

So much for my wait-and-see approach. :(

My guess is that the third party app developers will shortly fix this.

Looks like they're going to have to figure out a new way to jailbreak the phones with the new recovery mode.

Thanks to everyone who is keeping their fingers crossed for me. :laugh2:

OS X using only iTunes v7.4.1(2). 'Custom' ringtones appear to sync down to the iPhone without any issue (no error messages), however the ringtones no longer appear in the 'sounds' drop down--only defaults and legitimate iTunes purchased ones.

Yep
I should have done that.

Now I am left with an unmodded iPhone with not much to show for it.

I have faith that it shouldn't be too hard to change apptapp/ibrikr with the updated recovery mode stuff.

Thanks a ton for this info. This alone is going to make me wait until I have far more information on this update to see if I will even do it. Right now it is a firm no. =)
