im using iTunes 7.4.1.2
When you browse your list, does it show all of your custom ringtones? When I first saw my 'settings > sounds' screen, it showed my custom ringtone that had been previously set. Once I browsed my list though, it disappeared and defaulted to Marimba.

just posting my experience with 1.1.1. with the caveat that my phone is unmodded...

iTunes version was at 7.4.3.1 from which i initiated the update via "update" button... software took 3-4 minutes to download and after extracting began the install...

i saw a momentary "please connect to iTunes" message with a hazard sign on the display (iPhone) but that went away shortly and the silver Apple logo came back on screen..

install finished successfuly and smoothly...

like the double space = "." thing... pretty soon this thing might become a blackberry : )

i have not had any issues with bluetooth.. i can turn it off and on no problems... then again i don't use the bluetooth and keep it off to save power...

haven't used the iTunes store yet but think that is a very cool feature..

that's all for now..

i browsed all mine a few times and they are all still here, i don't understand what gives? others have used the same workaround but don't have their ringtones and i do? doesn't make any sense.

That's a negative for me! When the dial spins if you exit out (press general tab) it automatically goes back to off state. I cannot make a call w/bt.
I'm pissed now!
As I said previously, even though I was getting (and still am) the spinning dial as you are, I was nevertheless able to make a call using my Apple iPhone bluetooth device. I merely turned the bluetooth off then back on, and when making a call, pressed the button again briefly til I heard the short beep, and got the speaker icon to change to "audio" where I selected bluetooth. Also, as I noted earlier in another post, I still am not getting the bluetooth battery charge indicator when I first turn on my phone and both the phone and bluetooth are in the cradle.

Now, just for the heck of it, I went to settings where that spinning dial is still displayed, and clicked on the box that says "iPhone Bluetooth Headset", then chose to "un-pair". I was unable to "pair" it back using the iPhone. So, I then pulled out my bluetooth instruction booklet. From that I was able to "re-pair" my bluetooth again. I took both the iPhone and the bluetooth out of the cradle, as the instructions stated. I then turned the bluetooth OFF (holding down the top button til you hear the descending tones). Then, turn it back on (hold the button down again, until you hear the ascending tones). I then briefly pressed that button again and and heard a very short "beep". At that point, a screeen popped up on my iPhone, asking me to enter a "pin code". From the instruction booklet, it tells you to enter "pin code" 0000 (unless of course you have previously modified the code). I entered 0000, and my phone told me I was no "paired" again. When this happened, the little bluetooth battery icon up on top next to the battery icon appeared. It had not been showing previously, but of course, my phone and bluetooth were in the cradle then.

Although my bluetooth is working, and my phone is showing the bluetooth little icon up top (when both phone and bluetooth are removed from the cradle), when I click on settings, general, bluetooth, it STILL shows that little spinning dial, even though in the box below it says "paired". And I still don't show the bluetooth battery indicator on my phone when I first start it up (the big one). I am however, able to make calls using the bluetooth without problem.

After all that I have read looks like I won't be doing this update anytime soon. I have about 3 weeks of mods to do this update is crazy. A friend has a iPhone that is stock and after looking at his I could never go back.

yes we need to figure this out. Here is a post from chupa chupa on macrumors:

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but homemade ringtones (the .m4r hack) with iTunes 4.0 no longer works with the firmware upgrade. The ringtones show up in the phone but won't play.

and even more confusing:

As hooked on NES Monopoly as I am, I won't be updating. I learned my lesson with the PSP.

Anx typig the above, I mis- typed "with" and somehow it Autocorrected with "Tito"! Then Safari crashed and I had to type this message again.

Yes. I am using App Tapp right now and just tried out Sketches and it works too.

*APP TAPP DOES NOT WORK. SORRY FOR THE MISTAKE. I thought my iPhone was updated and it hadn't even started to update when i posted this***
I wish you hadn't rushed to say it did work. It was reports like this that swayed me to update.

I am not blaming you, it's my fault, but I still wish I hadn't read that there was no problem with AppTapp after 1.1.1.

Oh GOOD GRIEF! Now, I placed my iPhone and Bluetooth back in their cradle, turned my iPhone on, and am NOW getting both the big Bluetooth battery indicator along with the iPhone battery indicator like I did before; and I am ALSO getting the little bitty Bluetooth battery indicator, next to the iPhone battery indicator up in the status bar. Go figure :p

I say give it a day or two, there are probably a gizillion people out there grinding away at this moment to get ibrikr, jailbreak etc. to work. They'll get there soon, there is too much energy behind it for them not to.

Really? That's great! Do you still have to restore the ringtones after every sync?
posted in another thread

This from www.efksoft.com:

iPhoneRingToneMaker does not work with iPhone Software 1.1.1. In the mean time, if you use or want to use iPhoneRingToneMaker, we suggest you hold off on upgrading to iPhone Software 1.1.1. When compared to Apple's ringtone offering, iPhoneRingToneMaker is still the easiest, most efficient and cost effective way to get free ringtones unto the iPhone and we are committed to doing everything our power to resolve this issue promptly.

I am now sufficiently bummed...

just letting you know becareful before you purchase it.

Turn off EDGE?

OK, everything I've read says we now have the capability to turn off EDGE. I have update my phone, and can't figure out where to go to do this. Anyone found it?

Never mind...it is under Settings/General/Network/Data Roaming

I hope you're right, but it is possible for Apple to stop everyone. It's like trying to break into a properly secured computer. If it's done correctly, you can't do it. :(

But that's a pretty big "if".

I've got a call into advanced support. They are researching it with the engineering dept and they are going to call me back within the next 1-3 hrs (I hope).
When the iPhone is in the cradle with the BT headset both charge icons are there, the new bt battery display as well as the iPhone battery display. Beyond that there is nothing I can do to turn BT on within the iPhone settings.

Thanks for the help! I'll report back as soon as Perla (from Apple support) calls me back.
