Oh Snaps! Some more promising news for White iPhones @ Bestbuy!

You're missing my point. If they are available to ship ahead of time to best buy stores in time for launch day, they would have been available to ship ahead of time to consumers also. It makes no sense for Apple to hold out on the consumer. They would rather have people on their site, and in their stores than in best buy.

I was just joking about the apology. But yes, both sides can go back and forth with argument and debate, but its true that both sides are merely speculating at this moment since Apple has been so hush about it (which would further prove my point) but alas, we shall see.

Whether this turns out to be true or not, there is no "fact of the matter." There is only opinion on both sides.

I appreciate how much you want this, I'm just not blinded by optimism the way you are. I can't even conceive of the mess we'll see on Thursday if people start walking out of stores with white phones. The preorder thing was messy enough already. They'd piss more people off by having them than they would disappoint by not having them.. not that I think they're making any conscious decisions based on that.

if no white iPhone on iDay, i will make a thread sincerely apologizing to all for being so innaccurate. But why would it be a mess if white iPhones are released on iDay? They only mad people are the ones who were too impatient and went ahead and ordered black when the website EXPLICITY stated not available for preorder or reservation. Entailing, you should have waited. Also, that's another reason why they are hush on the subject. Because they are still releasing both colors on iDay. I believe Apple would have said something by now if, and only if, there was not going to be ANY whtie iPhones on iDay. but since there will be, they are able to stay hush on the subject because they would be sticking to their word at what was said @ wwdc.

That being said, I believe that's why Apple advised bestbuy to STOP taking preorders for white (before they stopped taking preorders altogether) because it wasn't fair. BUT they didn't tell them to make them change the orders to black, at least they didn't to me. Anyways, ill stop here. Maybe im too optimistic, but i think im just being logical here. We shall wait and see

Best Buys employees are not giving factual information, and they really suck for leading people on. I JUST spoke to my friend at Apple, and she is not an Apple Store employee, she works at headquarters in Cupertino and is high up on the ladder. She said in fact, Best Buy will NOT be getting white phones before Apple & AT&T, and that no one, not even her, knows if white phones will be available on launch day.

I'm not saying it's not going to happen, I'm just saying no one knows for sure. If Apple Stores and AT&T have them on launch day, Best Buy will too. That being said, Best Buy employees should not be promising white iPhone stock as they don't know for sure they will have them. That's all I'm saying. For your sake, I hope they do, and I think there is a 50/50 chance they will. Is that better?

I'm actually 100% with you. I don't think you're being too optimistic. It's true, the upset people will be the ones that pre-ordered the black, that would have pre-ordered white were it available. However, the hardcore white iPhone enthusiasts did not pre-order black and are waiting.

Like you said, those who pre-ordered black have no right to be pissy that they don't get a white if it's is available on iDay. They knew what they were getting into when they pre-ordered. Don't you think all of us would have pre-ordered if we could have gotten a white? Imagine if all of us that are holding out for white were trying to pre-order on the 15th. Half of you wouldn't have even been able to pre-order your black iPhones had all of us been trying to pre-order as well. The sites would have been crashing even more than they were.

I think that Apple and AT&T knew this, and tried to curb some of the rush by only accepting black pre-orders. Also, black has been the statistically more popular choice, hence why they chose it instead of white. Basically, it comes down to the fact that I am going to a LOT of trouble to get my hands on a white iPhone. I don't have sympathy for those that pre-ordered black, and then will complain on iDay if white is available. You pre-ordered black.

The availability of white is of course still pure speculation. There very well may only be black iPhones on iDay, and I'm completely prepared mentally for that. But I still expect a limited stock of white iPhones on iDay, and am camping out in hopes of getting one. However, if I don't, I will be purchasing a black one, as I do not want to wait any longer than the 24th.

Yesterday when Best Buys iPhone Launch Plan Leaked this was part of it. Which clearly states White iPhones will not be included in launch day. So I am guessing unless some crazy miracle happens, we're gonna have to wait. :/

as a matter of fact, my store is only receiving 3 iPhones. i called today, and the lady told me i was the first on the preorder list, so at least i am getting one. albeit black.

Are you sure you don't want to wait? What if someone can find out exactly when the white iPhone will be available? Or, what if you go in on Thursday and by then, they actually have a lauch date for the white?

I wanted white, but im fine with black. i admit im impatient, and my GF is too, because she wants my white 3gs. so i will just get the black. im gonna find out about the exchange thingy though...sighhh i feel like a turd

Don't feel like a turd. It's the fault of so many BB employees who were giving out incorrect information. Like I said, they keep telling people white is coming, and then you have a bunch of disappointed people. They should have kept their mouths shut all together.

I waffled a lot on just ordering the black; both my 3g and 3gs were white. My husband, who gets my hand-me-down iPhones, gave me an out. He'd actually prefer to have a black phone (when he inherits it) and said that if I'm unhappy with the black, we can use his upgrade when it becomes available in October to get a white phone for me. So I'm really only looking at a four month commitment.

I wish Apple would just follow up with some news about what changed...

I just got back from BB and there were people there trying to pre order
The lady told them that pre order were over but that they could come and stand in line and wait and see if they had some iPhones for first come first serve....The same lady that told me last week that they were only going 2 sell iPhone 2 the people who pre orderded....

Well, I can't say it doesn't surprise me that there will not be any white iPhone 4's on iDay. I think they're having to cover up the lights of what I read somewhere was the receiver that appear above the earpiece on the front of the phone. This would have caused the delay in releasing it. I don't see how Apple wouldn't have done that long ago, but if it's not that, something has caused the delay, they're not releasing it though. I bet on iDay you'll hear it being reported on the news channels and maybe then we'll get the reason behind it.

It's kind of disappointing. I know my sister wanted white but settled for black. I was undecided, but was leaning towards black. The white started to grow on me about 2 or 3 days after Steve Jobs announced it at WWDC. But ultimately Apple made the decision for me, my 3G has been acting funky lately and I'm afraid it may not last long, so I had to make sure I got an iPhone 4 before it failed altogether and I'm stuck with no phone.

Black or white, the phone is still awesome looking.

Never trust Big Box stores. They rarely have accurate, up-to-date information. By the time the info goes through all the proper channels and is approved by corporate for dissemination amongst the grunts you would have already known what's going on via the web.

Do you really think the 18 year old over the phone at Best Buy has up to date information or are they just telling you what you want to hear to get you off of the phone as quickly as humanly possible.

As someone that spent a few years in management at a Big Box store....trust me...the "on the floor" people know next to nothing. And the managers barely a hair above that....
