all,

once logged into a wifi hot spot, how long does your iPhone keep the connection active? seems like mine drops the connection after a while of inactivity and i have to log back in... not all that much fun with the wacky passcodes and such that some of my connection spots have..

To conserve topics, I will ask my question here since it is related to wi-fi. I can't log into hotspots hardly at all! What's the use of Wi-Fi if you can't log into other places? I have only been able to use my wi-fi at home and at one McDonalds close by. I tried it in another McDonalds elsewhere and it threw up a username and log in for their wifi system. I tried it in a restaurant last night and it connected but I couldn't get on the net or YouTube with it. Has anyone else experienced wi-fi connectivity?

So, to answer your question, I can't get connected most of the time.

I tested through a continuous ping. It keeps a connection for about 2-3 minutes....I wasn't counting.

Your passwords, though, will be saved. you should be able to go to any area, enter the password once and leave. When you come back eventually the Wireless should find it and connect right to it with no intervention.

That's all normal and not iPhone's fault.

1.) YOUR wireless setup at home may be faulty

2.) Not all McDonalds locations are free, hence the sign in and pay.

3.) Restaurants sometimes have wireless, but it may not be for public use so they shut down ports so only internal access can get what they need.
