One of the biggest things I miss from my Treo...

Besides Agendus, the best calendar software for a mobile device, I really really miss my external LED indicator.

I loved just taking a glance at my phone to see if I have a missed Call, e-mail, alert, or txt message. This is one thing that cant be fixed with a software update too... :(

Oh well. I hope they implement a "NAG" feature at least, that allows us to have the iPhone alert us more than once for anything we miss.

You don't love having to pull this beautiful phone from your pocket, and using that "slide to unlock" feature, and having that big bright screen light up to impress everyone around you? haha

hehe, i actually find the slide to unlock thing pretty annoying. A LED indicator is soo much more useful.

Like i said, if Apple gives us a NAG feature, it would help a lot. It seems i have been missing a lot of alerts with my iPhone because the vibrate Motor is only on for like a milisecond...

AGREED! I used a blackberry for so many years, I find myself glancing at my iPhone out of habit to see if the red light is flashing. I do miss it.

yes, they could have still kept the elegant look with the LED indiactor as well. Maybe Arne the earpiece, they could put a small white fading LED, similar to the ones in the macbooks.

LED's sip on power. I would gladly lose 5 extra minutes of battery life for an external LED.
That's not what I meant. I was inferring with the surprising longevity of the iPhone, who needs an LED? I have yet to go under half a charge since last Friday with 9 hours of use...music, video, internet.

Maybe you're mis-understanding me. An external LED would alert of you missed Calls, texts, emails, and iCal alerts, etc. It's so you can quickly glance at your phone to see if you have any alerts, and eliminates the hassle of taking your phone out of the case, and turning it on.

I see what you mean now. I suppose that would be useful depending on how you use your phone. But this is hardly treo specific. Pretty much every phone these days has one of those LEDs. I wouldn't have minded a tiny one that is hidden like the light sensor so it doesn't mar the aesthetics like other phones.

Does the RAZR have one?

Fully agreed. My Motorola used to beep every 10 minutes or so if I had a missed call or voicemail. It was obnoxious, but I never missed a call. Now I have to remember to go turn the phone on all the time 'just in case'. I hope they add a 'reminder beep' in a patch soon.

I currently have a Treo 700p ... SOON (I hope) to be replaced by an iPhone. I hope that somewhere down the road there is some kind of visual or at least audible notification of email, text message and voice mail. I really depend and have grown used to my blinking green light on the Treo for notification of above same. Would it "queer the deal" for me? Nope. I think Apple is on the cutting edge here .... and I'll be on the band wagon.

Agendus! Sigh.

LED would be nice.

But what I think I miss the most is Chatter, which IMO is the most powerful mobile email client ever made. May we we should convince Marc Blank to port it to the iPhone :)

You do know that Marc now works for Palm & no longer supports chatter? Chatter was great but I don't miss it that much. iPhone handles attachments SO much better.

Yes I do know that. But I also know that he loves challenges and he could change careers again. It is because the iPhone has such better OS under the covers that the potential is greater.
