I've had my iPhone for about 2 weeks and have been sync'ing successfuly with Outlook 2003. It worked fine for awhile but something went awry with repeating/recurring calendar entries in the last several days .....

The iPhone still has the recurrences but Outlook Calendar has lost all but the 1st day with no repeats. I've also lost everything older than 1 year -- which means birthdays, anniversaries, etc. have all disappeared.
(iTunes 7.3.2.6 & the updated firmware on the iPhone.)

Any insight? I'm a bit hesitant to sync again until I figure it out....

Thanks ...

I've experienced the same results with the new iTunes version. Have no idea what patch of Outlook I've got - whatever the latest is from Windows Updates. It's caused me to miss some meetings. I'm like you - I'm not syncing until something is fixed. Even when I accept reoccurring appts, they don't show up in the calendar. I have to manually add them at the moment. Not the smoothest way to operate...

I have the same problem! I just noticed it. My phone contacts lost their birthdays and all reoccurrences on my outlook are gone. I tried to correct a couple then sync and see what happens. It's changing the dates of the contacts birthdays/anniversary etc. by one day however the calendar is okay. This is killing me! I had just gotten my calendar working and now this.

Are you still having the same sync problems? If not, how did you fix it?

Went back to my trusty Treo. I can't believe you all are still screwing around doing the work the engineers at Apple should be doing. You're better men/women than me. I want and need to be productive...and I spent too much time at work trying to get my iPhone to sync with Outlook. I'm done. eBay, here I come.

Same thing happened for me. I thought I was losing my mind as all my recurring appointmens disappeared from Outlook. Since I had created them, people were not able to send them back to me to get them back on my calendar: outlook won't let you do that.

I removed the iTunes plugins from outlook and don't use the calendar on the iPhone. Too bad, it was cool that first week.

Wiped out all calendar entries

Well I am not sure what to do now, all my contacts are wiped out between Outlook and my iPhone. Everything gone. So I thought I was safe as I sync with my googl calendar too. Well it now has last every entry as well, iPhone wiped out Outlook wiped out Google. This is not good. I am scared to use this thing now.

i'm now syncing it with my Mac contacts and my PC outlook calendar. Everything is working now. Lucky enough not to have wiped out my outlook, but I back up outlook on a regular basis to be safe. My Treo wiped out everything several times.

i have recently been dealing with outlook 2003 and up..do not know a lot about the iPhone but if it is export the calendar in an iCal format and u are putting that in outlook 2003..then outlook 2003 only has an issue where it only pulls in the first record of the iCal file

well, i just did something and iTunes/iPhone wiped out my entire calendar. well, everything except the last 90 days.

i'm going to see if the IT department can restore a backup of my calendar this afternoon.

i am so pissed. 4 years of stuff, GONE.

everytime i plug my iPhone into my work laptop and sync my calendar, it does something different. i've gotten messages about merging, messages about deleting events (today, i thought i was deleting the iPhone events, but NO, it wiped out my entire outlook calendar!), sometimes it syncs, sometimes it only syncs certain things, sometimes i get an alarm i can't get rid of.

the outlook sync for the iPhone is abysmal. absolutely horrible.

/later...

techs finally got my calendar restored. i am afraid to sync now!

I'm actually began using Outlook 2007 since I posted this. Had lots of similar problems until recently. If you're syncing with a Mac and PC or two different PC's it may explain the messages about merging. I still feel like there's a gamble in every sync so I backup my Outlook regularly. All it takes is one update from Microsoft or Apple to resume the issues.

dumb question, but how do you back up your outlook 2007 calendar?

and yes, i do sync my iPhone to two different laptops. at home, i sync ringtones, music, contacts, pictures. at work, i ONLY sync my calendar.

i did manage to get my outlook 2007 restored. one of our techs recovered the deleted calendar items from the recycle bin.

i'm scared to sync again...

You would want to export the file in the form of a PFC (I think that's what it's called) make sure to include the calendar and contacts. It's very easy to do. Restoring everything isn't always the most fun because you can end up with duplicates (if everything isn't gone). If everything is gone then no worries. Hope you followed me on that. Anyway, I sync mine with Mac and PC and sometimes things get a little creative. I try to only sync my calendar with Outlook and then I keep the contacts synced with the Mac. I don't know. I confuse myself with this. Anyway, I'm on the Mac right now but I can give you specific instructions to back up your Outlook if you need me to, when I'm on Windows. let me know. Oh, and you've got every reason to be afraid of syncing, it's not well done with the iPhone.

so i'm gathering!

thanks for the tips. i did a little reading about it today, and i'll likely spend some time next week figuring out how to back up my calendar.

one of the techs at work actually pulled all my missing stuff from "restore from recycle bin" in outlook 2007. there's some kind of recycle bin just for the calendar in outlook 2007, but it's not real intuitive to find or use.

i can't believe how flaky the sync is on the iPhone. shoot, my little sony ericsson has synced with my outlook calendar flawlessly for over two years!

I wouldn't doubt if Microsoft makes tweaks from time to time to make us hate our iPhone. I miss my Outlook calendar the most from my previous phones. Really miss having my appts on my home screen as a reminder. No such thing as the perfect phone...yet.

i think mine is syncing correctly now. but we'll see on monday. i synced at work friday, after i recovered 4 years of data the iPhone popped out of my outlook calendar. but i've been home and synced it here, too (though not with the calendar).

:fingerscrossed:
