Which one of these will be the best option for the iPhone (syncing contacts, calendar, email)- Outlook or Outlook Express? Are both free?

I am trying to prepare now so that I can be ready on Friday!

From what we know, the iPhone will sync to either Outlook or Outlook Express. The biggest benefit of Outlook, is more data fields and contact pictures will sync as well (Outlook 2003 or higher).

Either way, you will be fine.

Outlook Express is the freebie striped down version that comes free with Windows XP and Vista. Regular Outlook comes with MS Office (although I think you can buy it separately).

If you have regular Outlook, use that otherwise Outlook Express will be fine.
Personally I would not go out and buy Outlook just to use with iPhone though. I'd rather buy a mac with Apple mail before I paid one cent for Outlook.

If you set up all your email accounts and stuff now then when you connect iPhone it will automagically suck everything down when you first sync it.

so microsoft outlooks express doesn't give you the option to add pictures?
I have heard about different tools, which work with emails. But yesterday a lof of my emails were crashed, and no one knew how. Then,I entered the Internet and absolutely by chance noticed - repair outlook express win98. I downloaded it and after that I was surprised, reason of the program resolved my trouble for a minute and I didn't spent my money. The software demonstrated me how it recovered all messages, contacts, address books and other items.

For me OE is a very meaningful tool. And I opened it some days ago and was unpleasantly surprised reason of all my emails had been lost. I didn't know what to do next. Luckily for me I got an curious application - recover mail outlook express on the Internet. It determined my issue within a minute. Besides I learnt how the utility worked with very large files of dbx format and processed them in a batch mode.
