hi,

I have downloaded some books from Audible and would like to parse or add
chapters to make the file smaller for playing on my iPod. Right now, they are 5 to 6 hours long and when you stop on the iPod you have to play the entire book to get back where you were and there is no fast forward.

If there a way to parse or divide the file in iTunes? Another program?

What you mean there's no way to fast forward on an ipod? Of course you can. You are also wrong about stopping and starting. Audible books pick up right where they left off whenever you go back to them. I don't care if you are looking for a way to get around Audible's proprietary code but please don't spread misinformation about the ipod.

I am not trying to get around Audible's code. When I put my iPod on pause
and come back the next day it starts all over again. I haven't found a way
to ship to where I left off. How do you fast forward the iPod?

My scroll wheel only adjusts the volume. So, there is no way to forward by
chapters, etc. there is only one chapter. My original question. Is there
any way to insert chapter marks or otherwise parse these files?

Tap the center button twice, you will see little lines in the "progress" bar. These are the chapters. Now use the wheel to advance.
