Yes you can but only after you fail the credit check first. You can't just walk into wal*mart and pickup an iPhone go phone.

yeah i know that i was going to purchase my iPhone from Apple, and than activate it with iTunes. but people are saying you cant use pre-paid only "chose your plan" which automatically charges money to your credit card everymonth as of right now i have a pre-paid razor were i buy pre-paid cards for it, this is what i'd like to do with the iPhone.

You can not do a pay as you go. You must do a monthly charge which gives you less minutes for your $.

It is a monthly fee similar to a contract only there is no commitment.
Also I believe you get messages every day if you don't add any money to the account. I saw a you tube video on it.

The message would pop up 12 times and there is no way to turn it off.

I have no clue how you would do it, but if you did, you would have to activate it through iTunes, which you will have to supply your credit card number, and all that so you will still get charged for it, unless you bypassed the activation with one of those hacks, then put your pay as you sim in it, but do regular sims fit in it? I think it would be best to just put it on your plan, because you will kill your minutes with the data charges and with a plan, you get unlimited data.

With the iPhone and ATT they don't offer a true prepaid service. It's a monthly charge. BUT you get 200 minutes/month with rollover, unlimitted data all for about 50$. Good deal to me...

I think it needs to be CANCELED. Then the phone will jsut function as a widescreen ipod with wifi. You may get a new number if you RESTART your prepay.

They give you a cerain amount of time to reactivate the number before you lose it. It's been a while since I had go PHone lines for my kids, but there was 90 days then after the last expiration date before I lost the numbers.

Isn't what you do is fill the ssn with 9s? then you fail the credit check and the option for prepaid is offered. I believe this is how is done.

jptolife, thats if you want prepaid without a doubt because the ss number 999999999 is not real. So iTunes says you fail your credit check giving you the option to do prepaid.
