I honestly never had or seen bricked iPhone. I usually fix them for family and friends and I have seen some pretty bad ones that were just maliciously stuck on Apple logo or iTunes screen. Some of them took really long time (whole night). My guess is it's never software. If its truly bricked it's hardware (dropped or waterdamaged). Don't worry you will fix it eventually.

I've heard of two bricked iPhones in three years on this forum. Both were jailbroken and both were replaced by Apple when they couldn't fix them, either. It's extremely rare, but possible. I fix them for people, too. I've had two that it took me about six hours to fix.

I can get iTunes to do a restore using a custom iOS made by sn0wbreze.
All go`s to plan, iTunes restores the phone and then when I get to the screen with the Apple logo above the progress bar nothing happens :( Its been stuck on that screen now for the last 3 hours or so...

Were in the hell do I go 4rm here?

Just to say how I got iTunes to do the restore, I changed the host file, I put a # in front of the Apple ip address and all went ok , if I don't have that done to the host file iTunes will just give me an error at the 1st hurdle.

Please lads help me .... I have even went to a internet cafe and tried a different PC but stil the same result.

At this stage I am on my hands and knees begging for help!

Something in the custom firmware might be causing your restore to get stuck. Do you know anybody with a Mac that could make a custom firmware using Pwnage Tool?
