Hey Guys,

I know that there was talk and confirmation of AT&T releasing information about the plans for iPhone before the release date.

Reading some of the other posts here, everyone seems to think that it will be required to add up to $50 in data plan stuff to be able to use the phone.

I currently pay abour $100/mo. for a Family Plan (two phones, voice, 500 txt messages), so it could increase another $50- monthly?

Anyone have any solid information about this.

(Feel free to move this if I posted it in the wrong forum)

I heard that they would release info before the release of the iPhone. I also heard that there is not a one size fits all data plan, I could be wrong though its just speculation.

I know that the phone has integrated WiFi, AT&T can't charge for this correct? It just requires you to be in a place with wiFi?

If so, that makes me hope even more that they have a smaller data plan because I cannot think of two many places that I regularly find myself that do not have wireless internet. Making the EDGE network less needed (for me at least).

Thanks

But they can link its useability with having a data plan. They can cripple the wifi unless you've purchased a data plan, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Now to add to this...

How much does it cost to extend your contract 2 years (if anything)?

Is it better to just add a line for 9.99 to get the phone without a hassle and give my old phone to someone else in my family (we're slowly switching everyone to AT&T from other carriers)?

The 2 year extension does not cost anything to do but will EXTEND your contract meaning you will pay. But no nothing MORE will be charged.

Yes. What I meant was, they won't charge you to extend your contract BUT you will be paying $xx.xx each month. SO in reality you are PAYING MORE but not more than you would be each month. In other words your plan would just EXTEND
