My parents are paying for everything so to me it doesn't matter. But anything over a $60 or $80 a month required data plan would be a bit ridiculous. $40 is nothing really.

doesn't that take all the fun out of it tho? having your parents pay for it? some of us are throwing every last dollar we have at thing, and the data plan has caught some of us by surprise/out of luck if the price for this mandatory plan is too high.

i don't know if i can afford yet... but you know ull be perfectly happy in 10 days. its like knowing what your getting for Xmas.... wheres the fun in that?

I'm expecting a very high percentage of persons buying the iPhone in 3 to 6 months will be selling it on Ebay as a result of the reoccurring monthly costs. It's a shame these same persons are going to be standing in line on the 29th.

Of course 40$ is nothing, if you're not paying for it. haha
You just said your parents are paying for everything. Why would 40$ bother you? You didn't work for it. You didn't balance any check book or manage any bills to fit a 600$ phone into your monthly expenses, and a 95$ cell phone bill, that the company won't let you escape, just 'cause you wanted to buy a certain phone.

guys, don't start harrasing this kid because his parents are going to pay for it for him.

...as my parents are doing the same. my dad is an Apple loser like me, so he SEES how mega awesome this phone is. so, he's willing to foot the bill. it's not our fault that we're 17 and don't have a constant source of income.

I could afford to spend the extra $40. But i don't want to! I mean i'm not exactly happy with paying $73 for the family plan right now and only getting 500 minutes (though i shouldnt complain much, my friend is spening more than that and getting fewer minutes with another company). I just feel like i'm being taken advantage of.

I really don't need the iPhone, my phone now does exactly what i need it to do.

Maybe if the plan was like $10 i might be ok with that, i might even go as high as $20.

Ok, maybe I worded that a little harshly... I was just trying to point out the fact that he said "40$ was nothing", when it's not even his 40$. haha

Anyway, let's get off that subject. I would be "Ok" with a required data plan, if it weren't under contract, meaning If I sold the phone I could lose the data plan, and if it were TOPS 40$/month, and it included UNLIMITED SMS and MMS. That's in or out of network! If that were true, I'd be willing to pay up to 40$/month, no problem.
