With the stinging news of the price drop today, I'm wondering how many of us would have actually waited 2 months if they knew there would be a price drop of $200. My guess is not many.

i do not write much but i think there should have been a discounted price for people who were already AT&T customer to show there loyalty to us rather than paying the full price.

Wow, this one is a no brainer, of course I would have waited if I had known! That's a huge price drop in such a short time frame. RIDICULOUS!

Even knowing that Apple would drop the price two months later I would ave still purchased one on launch day. In the grand scheme of things, $200 isn't that much money. At least not for some.

Then again, if you're only making minimum wage, it will put a dent in your pocket but at that point you much ask yourself if you should be even buying an iPhone in the first place.

It's not a point of whether the phone is/was affordable at 599. The principle of the matter is the problem for me. I think Apple was asking too much to start and adding the facts that it is exclusive to ATT and you have to sign a 2 year service agreement makes matters worse. I keep seeing people post saying that it's always like this with phones etc. but that is not always the case. Usually the carrier offers an incentive (reduced price etc.) to sign contracts but this seems to be a railroad job to me. I understand the businesss sense it makes but this was such a Microsoft move it's not even funny. To think, Apple actually prides themselves in customer service. ha... Hogwash! I feel burned and I received my phone as a birthday gift.

I would have waited.
Its not that we think its right at $599 or $499 but rather that that is how much we will have to save.

I probably wouldn't have waited, but I am extremely annoyed by this price drop so soon. I mean after maybe 6 months, maybe, but after 2? That's way too soon and I do feel cheated.

With that being said, all of the little things that Apple has done has made me never want to buy another Apple product again and this price gouge has just put me over the edge. We have to pay for songs and then ringtones and so on. I had to buy a program to get movies onto the phone. There are numerous features missing and the cost is never ending.

I've also made the determination that it was the touch screen that made me want this phone. If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't have been as excited. It is missing a bunch of features from my old cell phone, the biggest being the fact THAT I STILL CAN'T HEAR A TEXT MESSAGE OR WHEN I HAVE A VOICEMAIL! Unless the phone is right next to my face, literally. And nothing has been done to rectify it yet.

I am really annoyed right now.

I would have waited but I'm not bummed I paid $200 more to have it these past 2 months. I've had a lot of fun using it over the summer and was able to take some really sweet pictures.

Price WILL drop again

uh duh! Who intheir right mind would pay 200 for having something two months ahead of time
For all you cry babies..never buy another electronic device again..because the price will always drop to the point of selling call plans...Yes...the iPhone is NOT finished falling in price....so hold off a few years and get one for $49 with 2 years contract.....anyone remember the $500 motorola Razr?

I knew the price would drop at some point, but 2 months seems awfuly fast. I should know better than to challenge the marketing expertise of Steve Jobs, but the decision to cut the price so drastically after only 2 months seems very short-sighted. Sure, they'll sell more iPhones now, but I (and probably many others) will never again buy an Apple product when it is first released.

considering I've had my iPhone just under a month, I would have definitely waited. I honestly thought that the iPhone would drop in price much slower than most cellphones. I also did not expect to see any "New Service" special pricing for the iPhone, since it's such a different animal than other phones. Guess I was just as wrong as everyone else.
