I understand the iPhone has a predictive text feature that tries to anticipate your words as you are typing. I have never used a device that uses this feature and wanted to know your thoughts about this. For instance, if your typing a particular word and it has succsessfully predicted the word you wanted, how do you choose to accept the word its showing on the screen?

Thanks! :laugh2:

I believe all you do is hit the space bar just as if you were finishing that word and going to the next word.

t9

it most likely works like the T9 function on most cell phones today, you type the letter, but without pressing the key over and over to get to the desired letter.

You can actually see Steve Jobs doing if you watch the keynote. That's where I got the idea about the space bar. I remember asking myself the same question and watching closely at what he was doing. My eyes may have deceived me but I'm pretty sure he was just hitting the space bar.

May be worth watching again.

bad news for someone like me who does a lot of slang and foreign words; they might not predict the correct word! i hope you can modify this feature.

It is most likely that this feature will be able to be modified by the user. One thing I really want to know is what's hidden behind the "Settings" part of the iPhone. Not what's "hidden," but more like what settings you'll be able to control.

Most phones with T9 have an "on/off" switch. Im sure it will be included in the settings. As for slang, the more you use it the more it understands how you type. I.E. Day one you type Y the suggestion may be YOU. Then if you press O. It may still be you. However If you continue typing YO instead of YOU next time you press Y the first choice will most likely be YO instead of YOU. As with T9 there are ways to add "Words" to your dictionary. This includes names also.
