Thought I'd start a thread on pricing. We know it starts at $349 but what is the base model? Is the sport a base model or a premium? Is the smaller size cheaper than the large? Thoughts?

Goes from iPhone 6 at $649 for 16 gb. to iPhone 6 Plus at $949 for 128 gb.

I'm thinking its $349 for the 38mm model and possibly $399-449 for the 42mm. Both will come with a VERY basic watch band. If you want the stainless band, I'll bet that's an extra $99.
The sport will probably start at $499 with the same premium between the 38-42mm sizes. Will come with the sport band.
The Edition is gonna be rediculous, IMO. It could easily reach above $1000.

I'm with you... I like what I see with the Apple Watch, but not THAT much. I think something people aren't thinking about is having to charge it EVERY DAY. If it purports to be a fitness tracker too, then it should track sleep too. That won't happen if it has to be charged every night.
I tried the Microsoft Band. It's a GREAT device...but it barely lasts 18 hours when it's used like a fitness watch. It's not usable because of the battery. I think the Apple Watch will face the same issue.
I'm waiting for the Fitbit Surge. It will be a fitness watch as well...tracking heart rate, steps, calories burned, sleep as well as being a watch that will display caller ID and all notifications. All at $249. MUCH more reasonable.
Let's be honest...how much do we need a WATCH to do? A watch just isn't an input device, it's an informational device. I don't need to draw cute little things on my watch or speak to it. Both would be nice, but with the battery issue...it's not worth it. Apple Pay on the watch seems cool, though. (However, in my purchasing, I've used Apple Pay TWICE since the iPhone 6 came out.)
All of this is my opinion...I know others really want these features. I like them A LOT! But I'm not there yet. I'll probably end up with an Apple Watch at some point...but not the first edition. I'm gonna let the kinks get worked out...and then I'll probably drink the Apple-Aid again in a year or two.
It's the height of the the case (the entire watch). Here are the dimensions.
42 mm Apple Watch: The body including sensor: 36.2 mm x 42 mm (12.46 mm thick).
The body without sensor: 36.2 mm x 42 mm (10.6 mm thick). The sapphire portion: 33.0 mm x 39.1 mm. The screen: 24.3 mm x 30.5 mm (about 39 mm / 1.54 inch diagonally), that makes the aspect ratio about 4:5.
38 mm Apple Watch: The body including sensor: 32.9 mm x 38 mm (12.3 mm thick).
For scale, here is a 42 mm watch next to a regular iPhone 6.
