I just look at the Apple store online and they have the 8GB iPhones shipping in 2-5 businesss days now so I am debating on buying my iPhone from there or should I just wait and purchase one at the North Michigain Ave store when I am in Chicago the second weekend of August. I have to wait until August to purchase one because of my contract with Verizon. So if I order during the first week of August I should receive the phone by end of the week or early second week before I leave for Chicago, or should I just wait and buy it at the Apple Store?

I'd say order it online. If it gets close to your trip, then you can always cancel your online order. My guess is that 2-5 days shipping means you'll see your iPhone next week sometime. This will give you plenty of time to get your new iPhone set-up and to enjoy it during your trip to Chi-town.

See that is what I was thinking, plus I wont have a computer with me in Chicago so I would have to try and activate it at the Hotel's businesss center and I really don't want to do that. Have you cancelled an order at Apple.com before, is it pretty easy? Also are their shipping estimations pretty accurate?
During the first week of iPhone sales, all my local stores were sold out si I had ordered one online at Apple.com. The very next morning I was able to get a iPhone at a local store so I went online and cancelled my online order. It cancelled right away but it took about a week for my card to be credited back the funds though it wasn't actually charged yet. The funds were still deducted from my available credit. Just be aware of that if you will be using a card anytime soon.

I've ordered a couple of accessories for my iPhone online from them and they have come within the time frame they estimated or better. Generally they estimate to the heavy end as to cover themselves if shipping takes longer than what it should.
I felt it was fitting considering the general Deadwood style atmosphere that surrounded these forums over the past few weeks. I'll return to my old self, probably once you get used to seeing that one.

At the Apple store, since they're just selling the hardware. If you go to the AT&T store, they'll hassle you to sign up for a service plan.
