AT&T just announced that they will only sell 1 per customer.

Do you think Apple will be the same way? I am hoping to purchase 2 of them (NOT for ebay, for my brother who has a real job unlike me) and wonder if they will allow that.

I understand why they are doing it, but now my wife, my 2 year old, and me will have to camp out. I promised the wife one, too.

Ya it really sucks for those of us who are actually wanting to get one for family members. It's why I've hated and boycotted ebay for years.

Not really sure how eBay selling is going to be so major in this instance. From everything I have read, people can still buy from the Apple Online Store. If that is actually the case, just cause your AT&T or Apple store sell out, doesn't mean you wont get one.

This wont be like the PS3 or Nintendo Wii.

1 per person and each person getting one has to be there. The owner of the account must be present as well. That's what i was told.

NOT TRUE. THE HOLDER OF THE ACCOUNT doesn't HAVE TO BE PRESENT, YOU JSUT NEED THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND MONEY TO BUY THE iPhone

I think both are incorrect actually. Activation is 100% online. I don't believe you will be giving the Apple store ANY personal information.

i understand the one iPhone per person thing but the owner of account being present does not make sense to me...

how will an Apple store verify you aren't the owner? it is all going to be taken care of in iTunes as far as verification and setting up the phone to your plan goes.

i currently have a family plan with my wife account that is under her name. i am buying the phone for myself. she isn't getting one though. when i get home after i purchase it, we will just set it up with our current family plan under my number.

it just seems a bit silly that they would do that. i think it would add a ridiculous amount of time for waiting in line.

I can see if you ACTUALLY were going to get one for a friend or relative BUT all I can remember is the GANG members in LA who bought up all the Sony PS3's at stores all over LA and then being interviewed on news stations saying, "Hey Homes....I'm buying one for my little cousin!"

I'm 99% sure buying the actual phone will have nothing to do with anything account related. Walk in, buy, walk out with no account checks, you just have to go home and activate it. You don't need to be the account holder. Hell, you don't even need to have an account (but obviously you'll need to create one, otherwise you have a very expensive paperweight.)

I called my local att guys who just and i mean JUST got out of training. They said the person who owns the account must be present and the people who are actually getting the phone must be present. Don't ask ME why, that's what i was told. I called once after the morning training session and once after the afternoon training session. Spoke to two different people just to see if they had the same info, and they did. They said Apple was being really strict.

That makes no sense, since there will be customers without an account. What then? I'm betting they just want the account holder there so they can extend your contract on the spot. It would make no sense for there to be a REQUIRED account holder when a majority of the buyers will be people without AT&T plans.
