Drop your MP3s into iTunes first, then you can sync them with the iPhone.

If you have a CD you want on the iPhone, rip that using iTunes, and then sync with the iPhone to get the tunes across.

Easiest way to choose which tunes to sync with iPhone is

1) Create a playlist in iTunes - call it iPhone
2) Drag and drop your tunes into that playlist that you want on your iPhone
3) Plug in you iPhone and go to the SYNC pages in iTunes
4) Select the playlist you made called iPhone, and check that as one you want to SYNC.
5) APPLY and SYNC - your tunes will be copied to iPhone

Oh, and same for movies as well - drag and dropped your ripped movies into iTunes, select the ones you want to sync with iPhone and the SYNC.

Works like a charm! :)

np- Apple are (in this case) on your side and make it easy for you.

iTunes will even go get the album artwork for you, so your own tunes still appear correctly in coverflow!

In iTunes, go to File > Add Folder. Select the folder you want to add and presto. I've never used iTunes to download music and movies.

ok im still having a problem with putting songs in that i downloaded from bearshare. it's with orginization. i'm trying to put in multiple songs by an artist, from different albums. instead of having one song from one album, and 2 songs from another album, and one song from another, i'd like to just put all the songs by one artist in one album called, say, "greatest hits" for orginization purposes. i'm just having trouble doing this, as i only started using iTunes when i bought the phone. so any help would be greatly appreciated.

you should create a playlist to do this - you can just drag and drop multiple songs/albums at once into one. see instructions on Apple's support site here.

you know, a lot of the information it seems like you're looking for is already well documented on Apple's support site. that will probably be your best bet for explicit instructions and will save people here from typing everything up for you... ;)

People buy music?
haha
I actually do buy music.... from Russia.
I'm over p2p. It takes forever to find the right song version, takes for ever to download and there is always the risk of virus. Plus the quality is often bad.
I download from a website in russia. it costs me like $1/album, it is super fast and GREAT quality
