Question: Why is my data deactivated?

Good morning everyone, ive been conducting a few speed tests and does it use 10MB of data on 4G or just LTE?

And also, I got this when texting att Next Bill Cycle: 11/02/12
Data (MB): 0 of 2,048
Data (MB): 681.84 of 2,048 (Deactivated)
Messaging: 2,073
Group Messaging: 6,370 of Unlimited
Visit us online at www.att.com/DataPlans

Why is it deactivated?

Did you get your phone & activate it in the middle of your billing cycle?

My belief is that it is reading deactivated because of the change in service from 4G to LTE. I am awaiting the arrival of my iPhone 5 but when I view my ATT account I show my old Unlimited 4G data plan (pending deactivation) and my new LTE data plan (pending activation). I suspect that you may have changed phones mid billing cycle so you are seeing the accounting of the amount of data you used prior to the hardware change.

Mine did the same with my unlimited data. Deactivated one & activated another. If you were grandfathered with the 2gb plan & kept it nothing changed they probably just renamed it for true 4G/LTE.

LTE Speed tests use a lot of data. There's a thread about this here:

"(Deactivated)" is how AT&T designates services that are dropped or modified: For example, switching from an Unlimited to a Capped data plan should list the Unlimited plan as deactivated, and generate a corresponding entry for the new data plan.

However, your posted results indicate that you deactivated a 2GB data plan and replaced it with a data plan which is also 2GB, so this isn't the case for you. In my personal experience, if you call AT&T and make any changes to any of your services, and the rep screws up and messes with something else that they shouldn't have messed with, this could trigger a deactivation/reactivation result on your bill. The rep is correcting their mistake by re-enabling the particular service they probably accidentally removed or tried to modify.

They're just calling his grandfathered 2GB plan something else. Nothing changed. Only thing actually deactivated & activated was a few words.
