redsn0w/4S 5.1.1 service wouldn't start (3985) error

Gretings!
Attempted to JB my neighbor's 4S running 5.1.1.
Tried Absinthe and got something like "device not supported", so tried latest redsn0w and got "service wouldn't start (3985)" error.
Tried both methods with phone as is and wiped.
Any thoughts?

Usually, from my experience, Absinthe first says Device not recognized, or even supported sometimes. Have you tried replugging iPhone in with Absinthe open?

Yep, tried all the usual stuff.
Clean wipe, different cable....
Just JB snowtrooper jrs 4S this am, no problem....

How about a different computer? That's also one easy way to fix the issue. I have an iPhone 4, and have had no issues thankfully.

I'll try it on his.
Just odd that 3 family phones worked and friends did not.
