I just received my iRest iPad stand by Rain Design today and I've got to say, I really, really like it.
Upon opening the box I found the contents to be very neatly packaged, almost apple-esque in it's simplicity and efficiency.
Rain Design pays very nice attention to detail, using rubber pads on the bottom of the adjustable arm on back of the stand so you can use the iRest as a desk stand. Screwing on the included padded extensions lets you use the iRest as a lap stand.
There's a notch in the center for the home button if you use the ipad in portrait mode, as well as a slot to redirect sound from the speaker if you're listening to music or podcasts.
There's even a notch on the back at the bottom so you can use the dock connector cable whilst in portrait mode. A very nice touch.
All in all, this is a very cool stand. It's really comfortable to use in my lap, and pairing it with a bluetooth keyboard, such as the Apple keyboard, lets you feel like you're using a mini iMac.
