You would need to have your music on computer and in iTunes. Otherwise, you can't. You would have to purchase the Ringtone from iTunes, even if you have purchased the song.
I have the ringtone on Itunes AND on my Iphone. I just figure out how to install/choose it as my ringtone???
Apple , in it's infinite wisdom, has ruined Itunes!!! it used to not be all that user friendly. Now it's practically worthless! I can't even see what apps I have, Can't change the ring tone on my Iphone to one I have on itunes and in music on my phone! what has happened to Apple???
Your statement is a bit confusing to me. You can't drag and drop ringtone files on your computer into iTunes to install them on your iPhone?
The ringtones are IN itunes on my computer. and they are ON my iphone in the music folder but I can't seem to install them as a ring tone under "sounds"???
Well the first problem is that I don't have a Mac, I have a PC. But thanks for your response, I know that over the years you have helped many people.
The drag and drop method works with a PC as well. I just restored my 8 Plus on my PC and used drag and drop for my apps and ringtones.
Well I have 12.7.4 and there IS no apps showing TO drag and drop?? As you know I tried downloading and installing 12.6 I believe it was. I tried several times but Kept getting the pop up: "a later verison of Itunes was found on this Computer" and it would not install????
I reset my iPhone 7 Plus. I've had to take out a retired iPhone 6s. Downgrade iTunes to an earlier version. Using iPhone a with 11.0 and later switch on Blue tooth and wi- if and set up my "new" phone using the transfer.

Ok, well that didn't work for me. What do I have to do to install the earlier version of Itunes? 12.6.2 (or 3). Since as you know I have downloaded it three times but it will not install over the later version that I have. I guess I need to un install 12.7 and then install 12.6. how do I save my apps, music, and photos that are in 12.7 (somewhere, LOL)....
Are you dragging and dropping into the correct location in iTunes once you have your phone plugged in and selected?

Creating a ringtone is not the problem. I have ringtones both on my phone and in Itunes. The problem is: I can't install them in the sounds portion of the phone so as to be able to choose them. and In Itunes 12.7 I can't see, or access, My photos or apps. I have tried downloading 12.6.2 three times but it will not install because it says: there is a later version of Itunes already installed on this computer. Hence my question: "how do I uninstall the latest version (to install 12.6) without loosing the music, photos, and apps that are IN my latest version.....
Did your see my last post? I do this all the time. It's just a matter of dragging the ringtone files from their folder to the On My Device box in iTunes.

OK I now have Itunes ver. 12.3.6 but I STILL can't install any downloaded or created ringtones on my phone???? Note: I HAVE downloaded and created ringtones from songs but I can not seem to install them on my phone!?????
