Not true

That's actually not true. I've already modded my tones for everything on my phone. I've increased the volume and changed the incoming text message tone to the AIM sound, and my incoming mail sound to the AOL "you've got mail" sound. You will need to first use Jail break on your phone and then depending on whether you have Windows or a Mac follow instructions that you can find in the modding forum.
Make sure that your sounds are put back into the .caf format.

I increased my volume through iTunes. I'm sure there are other prgs out there where u can edit the file and increase the volume that way. I right clicked on the file in iTunes, went to options tab, went to the volume adjustment slider and moved to from none to +100% then clicked ok.

iBrickr can change all the system sounds if you're on a PC. It has native ffmpeg support, so it can transcode any file on the fly before it transfers it to your phone.
