Safari, Quicktime movies

I've been wondering what parameters are used to decide what Quicktime movie will load on Safari (or not).

Some observations:
1. nothing streaming will load
2. a 19.8 MB movie (on my website) will load, a 38 MB movie will not
3. no movie I've modified on my mac.com site with
another app (like Contribute) will load, regardless of the size

Is there any info on Quicktime and Safari out there?
