I cannot open my email because I receive a message saying that too many windows are open. Does anyone know what this means and/or how to work around this?

Maybe too many windows are open? open safari and look at the bottom right with the 2 windows and close off some webpages if you have many open?
Safari tends to bug up when you leave the iPhone running for days, try turning off your iPhone and turning back on. If not then you must really have to many pages open. Whats the cap at? i've never reached it

I don't think you can change it. Try powering your phone completely off and then on again. Don't just put it to sleep, but power it completely off.
None of you have run into the 8 page limit yet? It's not a bug. Nothing to workaround. It's the way Apple designed the phone.
You can't open up more than 8 webpages at a time. You need to close one. You do this by touching the icon on the lower right hand corner. It probably has a little '8' in in. From there you can scroll through all of your open windows and touch the little 'x' to close one.
