I recently heard that scientists believe they have found a second planet similar to Earth. It's a mind bender and would really challenge the laws of science and physics.
Why would the discovery of a planet similat to the Earth challenge the laws of science and physics?
Well, I'm not so sure that "challenge" is the right word. But it wouldn't make sense to have two planets similar to Earth. There can only be one Earth.
You're not making any sense. Why can't there be a planet similar to ours? Surely we don't own the market on our planet's characteristics.
Scientists are claiming that there is another planet like Earth. The only planet that I recall that might be able to sustain life is Mars. No, we don't own the market on planets but it just seems unusual to have another planet like Earth after millions of years.
It makes perfect sense.

Some of them are very similar to Earth.
"Like" Earth. You're thinking locally - within our tiny solar system. We've discovered hundreds of planets in our "local" area. Now multiply that at least a billion-fold and tell me there couldn't be another planet similar to ours in size and distance from its star (assuming the star is the same class and age as ours).
You aren't recalling correctly. There are a lot in our galaxy outside our solar system.
