Scratches on the glass

Well, I've had my iPhone for about a week now and I've managed to get two very small scratches on the glass. I've been relatively careful with my iPhone, keeping it my pocket with nothing else in it, and I have no idea how the scratches got there.

I have a very strong suspicion that within the next few weeks, people are going to realize that the glass is not quite as scratch resistant as people think. In fact, I think that the PC World video was extremely misleading and has given people a false sense of security.

It's funny, when I first saw the key test, it reminded me of a news story I saw on MTV about 15-20 years ago. It was when CD's first came out and they were packed in those big cardboard boxes that were double the size of a regular cd case. Well, a group of environmentalists started complaining about the wasted packaging and there was a conference of some sort where some minor celebrity was speaking. He started talking about how wasteful the packaging was, especially since cd's were so "durable". He then proceeded to pull out a cd, take several swipes at it with a key, and then put it into the cd player, which played without any problem.

i dropped my iPhone from about 2 feet onto concrete and the glass screen had a spiderweb crack in the lower right corner, and a hairline crack going to the top of the screen...

This thread has inspired me to go get one of those invisashields tonight!

Also, that PC world video was so stupid. The guy looked for scratches for maybe 1 second with no light reflecting off the screen. He obviously doesn't know how to see one.

I bought the black molded rubber InCases for my iPhone and I love look and feel of it (much more grip).

I also tried the InvisibleShield for a day but I really didn't care for the feel of it. It has this sticky feeling texture even once it has dried and it sticks to a lot of things - like when I have it in my pocket it will stick to coins, etc). I ended up getting one of the protectors from the Apple site the othearday and I really think it feels better using the touchscreen.

Could you be kind enough to share the link to the Apple site where you found the screen protector? I've tried searching the accessories for the iPhone and came with nothing. TIA

I don't try to it just happened once when I didn't realize it.

Here are two pics of the rubber InCase, its so much better than the plastic Belkin one I wasted $25 on...
Whats all that excess rubber around the edge? looks weird.. not like the other incase pics I've seen

Does the screen protector scratch easily? Seems to me it would since its flexible. That would be just as much of a pain in the arse to keep that from scratching.

It hasn't scratched at all yet, they give you two in the pack so you have a replacement if anything happens to it too.

Platinum, is access to all the controls [left side/top/bottom] easy
to get too with the Rubber InCase on? If so that would pair
nice with just the screen part of one of those shield's [front piece only]

I have the Plastic Belkin, I dropped my phone one time roughly 3ft.
The case flew in two different directions leaving me with 1 nick
and a decent scratch on the back of my phone. the phone was
clipped to my belt via the clip and just popped off while reaching
into a drink cooler. I have since retired that case since it did not
do its job.

Yeah you have access to everything, for the volume and the sleep/power button the case has a perfectly molded part that covers it but still lets it work perfectly. My Belkin case fell apart too when I took it out of my pocket.
