HELP! I have had this problem almost since the day I got the phone and it seems to be getting worse.I'll look up a web page (Wi-Fi or Edge) or be in Maps and the phone just returns to the home screen as if I hit the home button. The unit can just be sitting there loading the web page ----so I am not "accidentally" hitting the home button.Any help would be nice.Do I do a "hard start" ?.....This doesn't erase any of my contacts etc. does it?thanks Mike

Yup... but if it's happening too often, reboot!

(Hold down the power button until you get the red "slide to turn off" slider. Turn the power off, then hit the power button to turn it on again).

The soft reset works - you don't lose your data - I had the same problem and it solved it.

My phone keeps returning to home if I have Safari open while playing music. A soft reset does not help; it is getting quite annoying.

The reason this happens is because iPhone leaves multiple applications running even when they are not in use. I suppose eventually the system gets overwhelmed and defaults to the home screen.
