Selling iPhone 4 before the next iPhone releases

If I sell my iPhone 4 before I get the next iPhone can I use another phone besides an iPhone? Being more specific I was going get a basic trac phone and other than the sim vs. microsim will I be able to use a temporary non iPhone for a short period (a month or so )

Ok can you get your carrier to unlock it?
You can get more for it unlocked
Also you can post it here for sale if you like.
I had gotten actually from my local AT&T store a used old phone when sons phone broke (for free)
I would ask if they have any at your carrier.

I have a Nokia 2610 that is AT&T branded that I purchased at WalMart as a prepaid phone Cheap. I put my sim in it and it comes right up and works perfectly with my account.
