If I get a good price for my iPhone 4 before I receive my iPhone 5, can I use my outdated iPhone 3G until the 5 arrives?

Sure.. You will either need a micro to regular sim card adapter or have an AT&T store give you a new sim card..
That is exactly what I did. I will definitely be pumped when the iPhone 5 gets here. The 3G is worthless these days. Haha
