So, how many people here are shareholders of Apple? Are you excited about the price of the stock as upcoming products, like the future iPhones, are unveiled?

That's actually why i kinda wanna get some AAPL stock.
When and if they announce an iPhone "nano), I think the stock price would just go up even further. They would be reaching a whole new market with that.

There are a couple of big long threads on Apple stock in the General Discussion forum.

I think we need a dedicated Apple forum for topics like this though. I mean we have an AT&T forum.

I have a few shares, I bought them after Mac World last January. Stock is way down today, about $3.80 from yesterday. Most likely on news of the low number of activations and the upcoming earnings annoucements tomorrow.

The stock is too expensive for me to get any real profit with $50k. Thats why I turned to options so now I own the equivalent of 3200 shares of AAPL. This sucker better go up.

At what price do you believe Apple will be at on January 2009 and 2010?

I have been a share holder in Apple for a few years now. And will continue to be for years to come. Unlike microsoft Apples stock is not frozen and has the possibilty to move because of Apples long standing believe in creating innovations instead of just expaning on old technology.

Shareholder

I am a longtime shareholder. And yes, I am very excited about the share price as well as the prospect for some great products in the foreseeable future.

I am the only Apple stockholder in my office. When the price goes down, some of my co-workers come by to let me know (like yesterday). When it goes up, which is most of the time, they are no where to be found.

I urged them to buy the stock when it was $55/share, but no one listened. Oh well. I've owned my shares since it was $10/share.

I had to sell most of my Apple stock about a year ago when times got tough for us as we have been in the process of establishing our own businesss and had some slumps but we're debt free now and on the upswing. Right before I bought my 4 gig iPhone I also bought $500 worth of Apple Stock (only about 5 or fewer shares at the time but since the iPhone has been out my stock is now worth closer to $600. I wish I hadn't sold what I had a while back because I would be much better off now. It's not the only stock I liquidated at the time but I can't liquidate any of my other investments until retirement without a severe penalty thankfully. Now that businesss has been picking up I plan on investing some more and to tell the truth I hope Apple stock does have some down times so I can i invest more. :)

I have bought 500 shares of aaple at 138 before earnings report. I'm glad I did. I am going to pickup a new MacBook Pro with some of the profits I have now.

Put a lot of the eggs in one basket but it paid off BIG

Got in at $62.50 and I won't be selling anytime soon. Once the new iMacs, Mac Pros and, best of all, new Widescreen/Touchscreen iPods ship, sales are going to go through the roof. Plus, I'm confident that Apple has a couple more new consumer products up its sleeve.

BTW, anyone that thinks the stock is too high now (doubting that there's much room for any significant profit) should take a look at Google's stock price!

Prediction: 2-3 years from now, people will look back at $145 and say, MAN I wish I'd bought when it was that cheap!

yep, I bought Jan 08 130 options when the stock was at 119 last month. I also bought Jan 09 220 options and Jan 10 250 options, I believe it will be over 300 come Jan 2010.

Have had mine for 15+ years and resisted many efforts by my broker to unload. I always refused more for allegiance and belief than anything else. he quit bugging me a few years ago :). Told me the other day my basis was $22 and have 500+ shares. His firm has a bullish target of $250 now. Called the other morning about getting some more but it was too late-- needed to move the $137 day, but still may.

I'd never be comfortable buying options on Apple. If something (heaven forbid) were to happen to Steve Jobs (accident, illness, etc.), I'm not so confident that Apple could continue to thrive as well as it is thriving now.

Pretty scary that the company hinges on one guy like that. But I honestly believe that's how most of the institutional investors see it as well.

Some of you guys are making out real well. For the long-term shareholders they know of course not to sell anytime soon. I would have loved to pick it up a while ago, but I didn't due to other up and coming IPO's which paid off BIG for me!

For me, it's not such a buy right now at this point, especially because of how the market is and because iPhone sales are not that great right now, read some recent reports and was very shocked!

Damn, I wish I bought on weakness on Wednesday. Thing is all my trades are audited and need preapproval so I would've missed out and would've probably executed the next day when they went up at open. ARGH! Would've been nice to offset all my other losses the past 3 days.

Oh well, I used to have AAPL years ago, bought at 14, sold at 60 and bought a car. Have always been meaning to buy back in but just got too busy to actually follow through.

270,000 iPhones sold in 30 hours? Previous AT&T best sellers took one month to sell 270k. I believe many people didn't want to be perceived as "geeks" and run out and get the phone the same weekend it was released, plus many people knew it wouldn't be in stock so why bother, I like many of my friends, waited a week or two later to buy the phone, so I believe most people did the same.

I'm not saying they didn't sell a lot of phones.. But ATT along with Apple were not happy with the overall sales, meaning they were expecting to sell much more.. Also the huge activation problems led people away from buying it, this was all in a report. Let me find it

I bought in to AAPL a month or so ago, and wish I would have when I started following it a LONG time ago.. For now, my position isn't going to get me rich, but it should appreciate nicely..

What hot stocks are you all following currently?

Me, I'm counting down to the VMWare IPO next week or so.. I plan to get in about 500 shares.. This is the most highly touted IPO since google.. Do some research.. You should be very impressed with this spinoff from EMC...
