I bought in to AAPL a month or so ago, and wish I would have when I started following it a LONG time ago.. For now, my position isn't going to get me rich, but it should appreciate nicely..

What hot stocks are you all following currently?

Me, I'm counting down to the VMWare IPO next week or so.. I plan to get in about 500 shares.. This is the most highly touted IPO since google.. Do some research.. You should be very impressed with this spinoff from EMC...
I'll take a look.. I was following this IPO "LU LU Lemon" .. Yoga wear with a cult like status/market.. Anyway, was suppose to open between $10-12 , then second report came out which was last Thursday, day before it hit the market for $16-18, wound up opening at $25 when i bought it! Closed that day at $28.. This isn't a short term stock for me, over the course of the next year or so, I have a gooooood feeling that I made a good decision ;)

I'll check it out.. If you own a mac, and are computer savvy at all, you'll probably know what VMWare is.. It's virtualization software. It's the market leader, in the hottest tech sector. This year it's a 1bil market.. Forecast to triple in 2 years.. 100% of the Fortune 100 companies, and 89% of the Fortune 1000 companies use it. Cisco just invested 150mil in it, Intel 218mil. Last quarter, it's profits doubled!

The next closest competitor is MS, and their software is a poor competition. I will buy in on the IPO, and I imagine, being that everyone is so hyped, that I'll make a penny in the long..

I bought AAPL for 12 dollars a share (oh so long ago)

When everybody said they were going out of businesss (which I NEVER believed) I bought a few shares. Those shares have split and split again (and again) and now are worth over 10K. Not bad for a 100 dollar or so investment! And I don't plan on getting rid of them anytime soon!

I'm not so sure about VMware in the long run, supposedly Microsoft is going to bundle their software with their servers so it's sort of "free." and knowing businesss, free is good. I'm going to watch the stock after the IPO and maybe I will get in, but if EMC owns VMware, then why is EMC stock only at $18? I don't get it.

Currently I own Call options on Apple, Cisco and Superior Energy, Put and Call options on Starbucks.

I urged my grandfather to buy Apple back in 01 when it was trading at $7 a share. i had just gotten an ipod 1st gen and i told him i felt like it was going to be popular. i was too young to invest myself at the time.

i bought in Apple at $90, $107, and $140. sadly, i sold all my shares the day AT&T said sales were disappointing and the stock tanked. i felt that if the phone flopped, Apple's stock would slide back to $120 or so. then Apple's earnings came out and i bought back in at $135.

i expect it will go to $175 or so by years end.

With the Cisco investment, they're purportedly adding VM's software into every new server, making the transition seamless. Intel is doing the same, as it is designing it's products around the software...

Free crappy software, is still crappy software.. Parallels doesn't remotely compare...

I'm not saying VMW is a buy for everyone, but the buzz around the release is huge...
