Silence Call Thing?

I was wondering if there was a feature on the iPhone that let you click a button that will make it so that the phone stops ringing/vibrating but to the person calling, it seems like the phone keeps ringing until the voicemail comes up. Sometimes I'm not in the position to answer a call and I don't want people thinking I'm ignoring them on purpose.

Yes. Hitting the sleep/wake button once silences the ringer. Hitting it twice sends the call immediately to voicemail.

i just press the volume down button once, this silences it, but it still rings on the other end.
