That guy must have used a screw driver or something stupid to switch it from ring to vibrate. No need to worry they are pretty well built. There are video tutorials on the web not sure exact address did a google search and found them and the guy said that hi replaced his phone 3 or 4 times because that button broke the vibe mode or something and was afraid to use it lol didn't want to break it... You didn't hear wrong are you are RIGHTYou heard wrong. It's fine.
No screwdriver and no powerlifter involved to break the button.
What the problem with the poster was, was that the button is actually glued onto the actual electronic switch on the phones. He merely snapped the button off of the glue. Sure you aren't going to break metal, but beware, you will be able to detach it if you have a false sense of the button's invulnerability.
Ok so I've changed my iPhone 3g twice already due to this problem. And guess what the little button just came off my 3rd one 5 minutes ago while switching to silent in my first meeting of the day. Strangely i don't use a screw driver to perform the switch but opt normally for the thumb on my left hand. But I guess I do use the button a few times a day (I hear you recoil in shock at my stupidity). That guy must have used a screw driver or something stupid to switch it from ring to vibrate.
