I'm an existing customer, so the whole setup and activation took a whopping 5 minutes from the time iTunes started to the time the phone was activated... surprising considering I expected servers to be swamped...

On the downside... no Ringtone Tab... :(

Existing customer as well. It says it will e-mail me when my activation is complete.
Told me the same thing, and less then 2 minutes later my iPhone said it was activated! Syncing up all my pics/music/movies as I type...

BTW there were probably 100 people at the store (I was #6) and the reps were forbidden to say how many phones they had.. only thing I could get out of them was 'we have enough for everyone'

Since it's not a big location.. this leads me to believe Apple will have MORE then enough phones for everyone...

Amazingly smooth and efficient launch IMO

I meant no Ringtone tab within iTunes, so at this point only the Ringtones preinstalled on the phone are selectable...
so you didn't activate it in the store...what did you do to activate it in iTunes...you must have the 7.3 version right...

I just turned my existing phone off and back on. Before I did this it had full service and was working, after i did this it now says the carrier is unavailable - so I suggest everyone to take this step (even though mine isn't fully activated yet).

Mine had a full charge - existing AT&T customer - within 5 minutes my iPhone was up and running. I'm currently synching it with iTunes (music, photos). Still having some trouble getting it to synch with outlook though.

To answer in order:

mine was fully charges right out of the box

iTunes recognized it immediately and started the process

yes 7.3 is required (I installed this earlier today)

Didn't need to touch the old phone.. it was all behind the scenes...

No Video... just Camera

i've got a question about the email options - if you go in under 'other', what options does it have? i saw a photo the other day saying it would have pop3/imap/exchange and i'm curious if exchange is there. there has been a lot of conflicting info around about whether it is or not.

still nothing. I can't believe this. Reinstalled iTunes, everything, it just doesn't read the iPhone.

after it says more activation time needed, do you think i could remove it from the base? =/ I want to run down the battery before charging it.
