From the initial reviews written by Newsweek and such, I am quite surprised at the speed. It is quite fast imo. Those reviewing the iPhone before its release claimed the speeds were slower than dialup.

I get 731kbit/sec with my Bellsouth DSL lite WiFi and 137 kbit/sec with Edge.
