I find it very difficult to pick up my phone when its sitting on a flat surface. It always feels like its gona jump out of my finger tips. I don't really want a case cause I don't see any that I really like all that much. What would be perfect in my opinion is some type of grippy rubber/silicon to go from the side of the phone all the way around the back and to the other side of the phone. Something really thin like 2mm would do the trick I think. It would be great if it went from the edge of the plastic piece and up as high as the volume buttons. Just an idea.. now someone please steal my idea and make this happen lol.

IMO what you are talking about exists in the form of those stupid looking silicon cases. Either way adding something like you are talking about would look dumb. Why mess with near perfect aesthetics?

I couldn't agree more! I originally bought the InCase protective cover for this purpose but it scratched up the chrome part.

Duurrr.. precisely the reason I don't want to get a case. Maybe something to just stick on the sides would be better.. instead of going all the way around the back of it.

Tampa, Fl
get an invisible shield (or similar) and modify it. The shield itself is pretty tacky and makes handling the phone a lot more secure feeling. Personally, I like the entire thing being covered. i have nothing negative to say about the invisible shield.

Invisible Shield + Razor knife = DMcGrew's dreams come true...

How are you going to secure it without it constantly sliding off? Glue? I don't care what you say but adding anything of that nature would look awkward.

I have the incase and it's perfect. I don't have any scratches on my chrome at all... It's the perfect case for me. It has tons of protection, it gets rid of the slick feeling and it's sleek (doesn't dork up the lines of the phone). I have a black one.

Lucky you. I love what the case offers in terms of protection and grippiness, but it totally scratched up the chrome below the home button. Damn :(

I just checked again, I've been carrying it around in my pocket all day every day for almost a week and no signs of wear what-so-ever. Did you have other stuff in your pocket that got under the skin to cause the damage? The rubber itself couldn't have scratched it.

Nope. I always carry the iPhone alone in my left front jeans pocket. Still don't know what happened. The only thing I can think of is a tiny bit of lint or dirt got under the rubber and scratched it up.

Still bummed about it of course, but it's really not that big of a deal and obviously doesn't affect the performance of the device. Just wish it still looked perfect, ya know.

Of course, if I keep the InCase on there all the time, I'll never see the scratches ;)

I went through muultiple sets of egrips on my Treo 650s-- they are fantastic! The don't add to the bulk of the phone, are very grippy, go on and come off easily, and usually don't interfere with most cases. They come in clear and I generally don't use all.

Anyway, I am happy to report that they are
available for preorder for the iPhone (no, I don't work for them)
